European nations are on track to develop two distinct sixth-generation fighter jets by 2040 through separate initiatives. A significant part of this effort is the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) program, led by France, Germany, and Spain. In line with FCAS, MBDA Germany has recently revealed a new missile concept at the Berlin Air Show 2024.
The Remote Carrier Multidomain Multirole Effector, or RCM², is a conceptual standoff-range cruise missile designed for a strike range exceeding 270 nautical miles or 500 kilometers. Although similar to the Taurus cruise missile, what sets the RCM² apart is its versatility; it can carry different payloads such as a kinetic warhead or electronic combat and jamming equipment, making it suitable for various missions.
In this video, we are taking a closer look at MBDA’s new missile concept.
