If you are planning a deck build then check this out! In this video, I go through the process of how I planned my deck extension which is a semi freestanding deck. It is not attached to the house so there was no need for flashing or a ledger board. The deck spans approximately 16' using 2x8 and a dropped 2x10 girders. This build was hundreds of dollars cheaper than if I would have used 6x6 post and 2x10 joist but still meets and exceeds local code requirements.
