Democracy is certainly a rule of the people, for the people and by the people. And to change an autonomous system to a democratic system it is obvious that peoples' representatives must be selected to listen to the problems and help to solve the problems. Democratic system has also been established in our country Nepal. Nepal has a rich history of elections, and its electoral processes have evolved over time.
Nepal currently employs three electoral systems:
Parallel Voting: Used for the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies. It combines first-past-the-post (FPTP) and proportional representation (PR).
Single Transferable Vote (STV): Used for the National Assembly.
First Past the Post (FPTP): Employed for local elections.

Our main motive was to elect the representatives from the students themselves, so thats what we did. We conducted an election for the selection of prefects for the academic session 2081. In educational institutions, prefects are student leaders who assist teachers and administrators in maintaining discipline and order.
Their responsibilities may include:
Monitoring: Keeping an eye on students during breaks, assemblies, and other school activities.
Enforcing Rules: Ensuring that students follow school rules and guidelines.
Assisting Teachers: Helping with tasks like distributing materials or organizing events.
Role Modeling: Setting a positive example for other students.
Conflict Resolution: Mediating disputes among students.
Representing Students: Voicing student concerns to school authorities.

An election process was successfully conducted in our school Vidya Niketan Secondary School and we hereby congratulate all the elected prefects hoping that they will stand up for the hopes of the students and will never let them down. This practical election surely helped students learn more about the election process of our country Nepal and also how different government bodies are formed.

We are very grateful to our school administration for letting us conduct this kind of practical programs. We are equally grateful to the Election Commission Office who provided us with the necessary ideas and materials for the event. The candidates, all the voters and obviously the members of security officers equally deserve a guard of honour. Special thanks to all the teachers who helped us make it possible. Thank you very much.
