In 1975, Miyazaki Safari Park, the first safari park in Japan, opened in Sadowara-cho, Miyazaki Prefecture (now Miyazaki City).
Approximately 2,000 animals of 64 species were kept free-range on a vast site of 1 million square meters.
It was a revolutionary facility at the time, allowing visitors to observe the natural lives of animals while riding in a car.
Apparently, you could listen to explanations about the animals being broadcast inside the park using an FM radio.
Around 1975, the park attracted 1 million visitors a year, and on holidays, the surrounding roads were heavily congested.
It was sadly closed in 1986 (Showa 61).
It is now Hibiscus Golf Club.
