On a whim we decided to pack our bags and head for what we heard was the "Hawaii of Europe". A remote island located in the Atlantic Ocean that is closer to Africa than to Portugal. THIS IS MADEIRA.

While it's becoming more popular we were surprised that after 3 years of traveling full-time not one person has ever suggested or mentioned Madeira to us. There are cruise ships that come in weekly but other than that we found the island to be incredibly peaceful. The hiking, the views, the people, the food! It's all so beautiful and unique.
