The 77th annual Cannes Film Festival is a film festival taking place from 14 to 25 May 2024.American filmmaker and actress Greta Gerwig will serve as jury president for the main competition. French actress Camille Cottin will host the opening and closing ceremonies.

Shivendra Singh Dungarpur (born 25 August 1969) is an Indian filmmaker, producer, film archivist and restorer.He is best known for his films Celluloid Man, The Immortals and CzechMate: In Search of Jiří Menzel. He has also directed several award-winning commercials and public service campaigns under the banner of Dungarpur Films.
Dungarpur is the founder Director of Film Heritage Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of India's film heritage.
Shivendra Singh Dungarpur is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.

Manthan, also released under the translated title The Churning, is a 1976 Hindi film directed by Shyam Benegal, inspired by the pioneering milk cooperative movement of Verghese Kurien, and is written jointly by him and Vijay Tendulkar.It is set amidst the backdrop of the White Revolution of India. Aside from the great measurable success that this project was, it also demonstrated the power of "collective might" as it was entirely crowdfunded by 500,000 farmers who donated Rs. 2 each.Manthan is the first crowdfunded Indian film.

A restored version is set to release in the Cannes Classics section of 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
