In this video I just wanted to share a glimpse of the process of making a new sword - "Flame of Anor", inspired by Lord Of The Rings.

"During Gandalf's fight with the Balrog in The Lord of the Rings, he says of himself that he is the wielder of the Flame of Anor. It is nowhere else referred to in the trilogy, so its particular meaning remains unclear. Anor is the Elvish word for the Sun, so literally the flame of Anor would have alluded to the light of the Sun"

"In Tolkien's earliest drafts, forms of this passage were variations on: "I am the master of White Flame. The Red Fire cannot come this way" (and one variation mixes in the idea of Black Shadow, too). These terms seem to be symbolic - white for the powers of good, but red or black for Sauron and his servants. As the text developed, the Red Fire and Black Shadow were lost. The White Flame remained, but developed into the more poetic flame of Anor. On this reading, then, the 'flame of Anor' doesn't refer to a specific thing, but is Gandalf's way of announcing what he stands for, or perhaps his power as a servant of the Valar." - https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Flame_of...

I'm making this sword similarly like the previous one - which remained unnamed, as it was a commission and I wished for its owner to name it.

However, this is another flame-bladed sword. A flame-bladed sword or wave-bladed sword has a characteristically undulating style of blade. The wave in the blade is often considered to contribute a flame-like quality to the appearance of a sword. The dents on the blade can appear parallel or in a zig-zag manner. The two most common flame-bladed swords are rapiers or Zweihänders. A flame-bladed sword was not exclusive to a certain country or region. The style of blade can be found on swords from modern-day Germany, France, Spain and Switzerland.

I felt like making a more classic sword, but "Flame of Anor" simply required a sparkly, wiggly blade. Handle in process.
