Tanner sits down with author, artist, and pastor Glenn Packiam to talk about his upbringing in Malaysia and how that influenced his vocational calling. Glenn shares about his parents’ willingness to shift careers to become missionaries in their own country, opening up about the way he internalized his family’s call to missions. He uncovers the first book he ever wrote (as a young child) on “how to be an evangelist.” Tanner and Glenn discuss the origins of the word evangelism and what it means today in the context of western individualism. They wrestle through big questions on identity, anxiety, radical hospitality, and the revolutionary good news of the gospel. As always, Tanner ends by asking Glenn what it means to “carry Christ.” You’ll be astounded—and challenged—by the depth of his response.

Glenn Packiam is the Lead Pastor of Rockharbor Church in Costa Mesa, CA. He’s the author of several books, including The Resilient Pastor, Blessed, Broken, Given, and his newest book co-authored with his wife, Holly, The Intentional Year. He is a Senior Fellow at Barna Group, an ordained priest with the Anglican Church of North America, and has written more than 65 worship songs.
