Nara is a simple train ride away from Osaka, Japan, making it a great place to go on a day trip from Osaka. If you need to know how to get to Nara from Osaka we start off this video by showing you how! Japan's train system is so easy to use, and that is the case when traveling from Osaka to Nara (and it's all on the JR Line if you've got a JR Pass).

Have you ever asked yourself where the bowing deer park is? Maybe you've seen some videos of wild deer bowing to people in the park? Well, Nara is where the famous bowing deer live! For just a few dollars you can buy some deer food and walk around feeding very assertive deer while attempting not to get bit or head butted! Some of the deer have learned to simply steal food out of your hand without giving the customary bow, but many of them will show the classic Japanese gesture of a polite bow before nabbing some food.

Nara feels like a bit of a fairytale. We just spent one day in Nara as we were staying in Osaka, but we really enjoyed our time. In addition to feeding Japan's most famous deer, we also visited Kofuku-ji Temple where we discovered there were also many deer! It turns out there are hard to get away from as they have taken over Nara in many ways. Kofuku-ji Temple is a beautiful traditional Buddhist Temple that is easily visited if you are traveling to Nara to feed the deer.

We also made a stop at Todai-ji Temple which has the most beautiful temple grounds. The trouble with these temples is that they were both so busy that it was hard to feel the peacefulness of the area. Todai-ji has a bit more space to walk around and take in the beauty of the area, so we would suggest heading there if you only have time for one temple during your day trip to Nara.

Nara also has some excellent Japanese food. We tried a few different traditional Japanese snacks, our favourite being mochi made at the famous Nakatanidou. You can watch the mochi be pounded and pressed together here, and it is definitely worth the few dollars to try fresh mochi here!

======================

Hey there! We are Nicole and Mico and in March 2021, we quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and began traveling the world! We never thought we'd be making travel vlogs on YouTube, but after realizing that we had a unique opportunity to share our adventure and make the world feel more familiar and inviting to anyone watching, we took the leap and picked up the camera! We hope our videos show how wonderful, delicious, and friendly the world can be.
