Aether Apparel built this "Alpine Alfa" as an exercise in automotive advertising. With a 6.5-inch lift, knobby tires, and all the rock sliders, skid plates, and spares anyone could ever need, the design from Oilstainlab's Nikita and Iliya Bridan certainly looks the part.

Joe Scarbo of Scarbo Performance converted the 1985 Alfa Romeo GTV6's front torsion bar suspension to coilovers and custom-built the rear end while retaining the original de Dion tube setup. After finding the project on Instagram, HotCars contributor Michael Van Runkle borrowed the Alpine Alfa for a day in the desert, plus some fun in the canyons and traffic use in the city, hoping to discover whether the exploding (and expensive) safari trend actually makes any sense whatsoever.
