Monte León, to the north of Maspalomas, is a classic example of the old adage about 'rich folks who live on the hill'. There are a number of impressive haciendas perched high up on a mountain top, all with spectacular views down to the sea. This video captures some of the buildings and shows the panoramic views.
Two items are noteworthy:
(1). People who have watched other videos of mine on YouTube may be aware that, even though I love cycling in mountains, I am uncomfortable with some heights and find it difficult to veer close to sheer drops. At 06:35 I suddenly became alarmed as I found myself cycling along a very narrow ridge with nightmarish drops on both sides. That explains why I suddenly slow down!
(2). Shortly after I leave the ridge, you'll notice a blue car parking to the left of the road. Be aware that the cars there, and further on, are only a meter or two away from an absolute sheer drop into the valley below!! You would want to be very sure of your parking skills!!
