We've been exploring the various anchorages that Port Fitzroy, Great Barrier Island has to offer. In this episode, we anchor in Port Fitzroy and dinghy cruise to Glenfern Sanctuary, a predator free sanctuary on Great Barrier Island, New Zealand. These sanctuaries are important to us because they provide the opportunities of close encounters with some of New Zealand's highly threatened species few get to experience. If you do have the opportunity to visit Great Barrier Island, make sure Glenfern Sanctuary is on your list of things to do and see.

In December 2021, we moved aboard our sailboat Te Tāiko, a Chico 40, and we have been fortunate to sail to many of New Zealand’sislands and anchorages. Tāiko is our floating home. She gives us the freedom to go anywhere the wind and weather allows. Our plan? We try not to make too many plans but plan to do blue water cruising. Whilst sailing New Zealand's northern coastline, we're completing some maintenance work on Tāiko and getting her ready to meet New Zealand’s category 1 requirements.
