I get calls all the time from homeowners wanting to simply replace their vanity tops. A lot of builder grade countertops are very bland and quite frankly, UGLY! In this video I explain the process of replacing a double sink vanity top and why it is tough to find a contractor to do this job👇👇👇

Here are a few remodeling tips:
1 - Turn off water at main house shut off before removal. Most older valves will leak when you try to turn off. (especially the brass craft ones)
2 - Keep in mind that if you plan to get custom granite, marble, quartz or other type of top, you will need to remove the existing countertop for the company to accurately measure.
3 - Consider a re-installation of existing top if the lead time for top is longer than you can deal without a functioning vanity
4 - Upon removal be sure to score edges and caulking before removing, most countertops are simply siliconed in place
5 - Pay attention to the hole spacing on a stock vanity top. Most double sink vanity tops have 8" centers which require a faucet with separate handles.
6 - Replace the existing water supply valves. If the existing valves are 20 years or older....this is a must
7 - Set faucets before installing top. Its a lot easier connecting things before setting the top into place
8 - Consider a Pop-up drain as they are a lot easier to install than a traditional flip lever type
drain assembly.
9 - Leave drain assembly out of sinks as this will make it easier to set new top in place
10 - Use clear silicon to adhere new top
11 - Patch & paint before setting side splashes
