Lassa Fever, an episode on the T.V. Series from NOVA, premiered on the 8th of February 1983 before being subsequently released on VHS cassette tapes and distributed in educational and research institutions. It'd at first been shown on BBC-TV in December 1982.

It was a dramatized version of a real-life occurrence in Nigeria in 1969. A medical missionary died of an unknown fever, and the illness began to spread among the hospital staff, proving immune to treatment. This docu-drama follows the seesaw battle against it primarily by the Yale Research team, which discovered an effective remedy against the tropical disease - Lassa fever. This documentary also recounts how public health workers came very close to accidentally releasing the deadly virus in the U.S.

The true story of Laura Wine. At 00:19, we see a Reverend at Lassa, Borno State, Nigeria, calling for a plane to take the sick sister to Jos. At 03:49, the patient arrives at Jos. Here, at 04:00, we see the Evangel Hospital of the Sudan Interior Mission (S.I.M.). A hymn - "A Mighty Fortress is Our God," is recited by a gathering at 06:34. At 14:52, the focus shifts to the United States, where the cause and treatment of the mysterious illness were being examined. At 37:52, the focus returns to Jos, where matters have subsided, and no new cases have been reported.
