This trip came about since the weather forecast for the weekend was so good that I asked some friends if they would join me and hopefully paddle out to Tjärven lighthouse. Tjärven is isolated and about 50 min paddling beyond the last islands in Söderarm archipelago.

We started from Kayak-Uteliv rental shop in Gräddö on Rådmansö peninsula around 10:30 am on Saturday. Our aim was to paddle out to Vattungarna and from there, if the weather was favorable, make an afternoon/evening excursion out to the lighthouse and back to Vattungarna where camped. Our first stop was on Gisslingö where we had a nice long lunch with swimming and kayak playtime.

We continued and paddled via Sågskär & Inra Håkanskär out to Vattungarna and arrived around 3 pm. The wind was calm (1-2 m/s) so after a coffee break three of us took off for Tjärven.
After paddling a bit more than 50 min we entered the small channel that leads into a small sheltered lagoon. To our big surprise were two kayakers camping out there and one of them is well known among paddlers in Sweden, namely Magnus Fischer. More about that in the video. We talked awhile so our stay was quite a bit longer than we had planned for. But that meant that we got a magical return trip into the sun to get back to Vattungarna.

Next day we got a late start (10:30 am) and headed northwest to circumvent Håkanskär before turning southwest towards Gisslingö where we planned to have our lunch break and have some more kayak roll/stroke practice time. On our way we kayaked into the small channel on Northern Österskär which has a builtin 'turning area'' and through the small skerries west of Sågskär.
After our relaxing and fun stay on Gisslingö we headed back towards Gräddö but this time we went north of Lidö to be more sheltered from the wind.

Video editing takes forever (much longer than each trip is!) and I don't make a single cent on my videos. So if you want buy me a beer or a coffee for my efforts, I would be very happy!
