Six years is a long time to wait for a brand new Slayer album. World Painted Blood's progress feels like a memory, and the passing of Jeff Hanneman still hits the metal universe hard. But REPENTLESS does something right by throwing elements of various SLAYER eras into a disc that doesn't just directly assault you through its duration. Instead, we have songs that show some uniqueness, as well as the mid-tempo chugger fans may have been clamming for since GEMINI or DIVINE INTERVENTION.

It suffers from a few drawbacks, but REPENTLESS is an album Slayer fans can treasure. Now imagine of Gary Holt was a part of the writing process?
