This new XREAL Beam Pro is a fascinating new device that solves three huge issues for any VR/AR users. In this video, I will explain these three big feats.

ADDITIONAL VIDEO NOTES:
This has access to Google Play and with that, a massive library of apps ready to use on your device. For example, unlike the $3500 Vision Pro, this DOES have YouTube and Netflix. It also has gmail, strava, spotify, and literally millions of other apps. This is a purpose made device specifically for AR and VR. And as you might be figuring out now, the spaced out cameras on the rear are used to capture spatial video and photos that can be played back in 3D using the glasses.

Cool. Now the second question - how do I use it?

3 Main things - Apps, UI control, Spatial cameras capture

QUICK SUMMARY OF THE DESIGN & WHAT IT DOES

This runs Android 14 on the Beam Pro, and when you plug in the glasses, it runs NebulaOS on the Android system. This is good because by choosing to build on the Android system, XREAL made it easy for beginners to get started. There is almost no learning curve with this. It is very intuitive and this allows users to enjoy the product immediately after purchase.

Turn on the Beam Pro, sign in. This is a familiar Android experience.
Plug in glasses - explain the UI
Beam Pro acts as a laser to control the UI
Keyboard pops up on Beam Pro when needed

Orange button has several functions

Demonstrate taking spatial photos and videos
Comment on viewing them
The memories just hit different

Show multiple apps open at the same time on the glasses

Expandable storage
Storage options - so $199 for 128GB+6GB, $249 for 256GB+8GB

SUMMARY OF MY EXPERIENCE
No more rapid phone battery drain
Image looks better than ever on the glasses! - essentially no eye strain for movies
I can comfortably watch movies or tv shows, play games, and even do some mild email work with the Beam Pro and a bluetooth keyboard
Easy to pair bluetooth earbuds for more immersive audio, even though the audio on the Air2 Pro is already pretty good - sometimes you want ANC.
Great for flights - again, save space on your phone, fill this up, and save the battery on your phone for when you land

COOL FEATURES

Spatial photos and videos
Memory Space
No sms phone notifications to distract you
If you want to see a notification, you can glance down at your phone without taking the entire headset off (subtle jab at Quest 3 and other large VR headsets)
It is reverse and forward compatible with XREAL glasses
They work with older XREAL Air, Air2 Pro, etc. as well as the upcoming XREAL Ultras!
XREAL wants to play nicely with everyone, not build a walled garden. So if you take awesome vacation photos with this device and your friend has a Quest 3 or something, they can view your photos. They’re a very common side by side JPG format
No need to do stuff in VR space if you don’t want to - e.g. feel free to sign into apps on the Beam Pro without the headset on if that is easier for you. Then when you put the Air2 Pro back on, all your apps are ready to go
This can do basically anything a phone or tablet can do besides get a phone number.
It enables you to separate your phone life and VR life if you want to
Frees up storage on your phone - download movies and tv shows on this device when you travel instead of on your phone
Can be used to recharge your phone. Functions as an emergency battery bank when traveling!
Note: this is running a Qualcomm SD6450 processor so it is certainly fast enough to stream and run any apps I have tried, however, if you plan on downloading and running large games, you may want to keep this in mind.
