Learn how to move characters from Daz to Blender 2.8 Cycles or Eevee. This is an update to an earlier tutorial that was based on Blender 2.79:    • Daz To Blender Cycles - Import Charac...

How To Import Daz Studio Character Into Blender 3D (Cycles) (FBX format) - Tutorial

Here is a playlist on the subject of Daz to Blender:    • Daz to Blender

In this Blender 2.8 tutorial, we examine a method on how to export a character from Daz Studio to Blender in FBX format while keeping the animation AND materials. Some other tips and tricks are shown as well. Namely, fixing the fingers and alpha channel in some of the hair and eye materials.

This has some interesting results in Blender 2.8 (Beta). That's another video for another day, but I shared the initial results in my blog:

A Blender Tutorial
You will begin with your animated character in Daz Studio. Export in FBX format with several options including "Selected" "Figure" "Animation" "Morphs". After several moments, the file should be saved.

In Blender, go to File - Import - FBX. Select your file, and in the Import options, uncheck Pre/Post Rotation. Under the Armature tab, check Automatic Bone Orientation.

Once it is imported, you must delete the location, Euler Rotation, and Scale keyframes for the Armature object itself (not the bones that make up the armature). This allows the animated character to be placed anywhere in the scene.

It may also be helpful to edit the Armature in Edit Mode. You will notice that the bones in the hands do not line up properly. This can lead to mangled looking fingers. In Edit mode, drag the tails of each bone to their proper place (as in how a skeletal hand should look).

The materials that use an Alpha Channel will also have to be corrected. Any material using an Alpha Texture should be using Color for an output, NOT the alpha.
