What is a cyclekart?

A cyclekart is a brilliant, creative kind of reason for racing gokarts, where competitors, not only build them themselves, but also drive these single seat, about 80% scale motorised cars, built to resemble beautiful pre war race cars, round and round in circles.

They also dress in costume similar to what would've been worn all those years ago. Observe the overalls in particular.

From my observations, it mainly consisted of lots of like minded blokes looking at engines, chatting and helping each other fix them when they went wrong and then did some racing in them.

Which they did, a lot and we have no idea who 'won the race'.

But the tinkering and chat that goes on, behind the scenes, which I hope I've shown a bit in this video, creates new friends and unites good people and this was a pleasure to observe.

For those thinking of making one, give it a go for sure. It doesn't matter how long it takes. If you are handy with tools (you'll need them) and want an atmosphere that is non-competitive and want to make friends with genuine people, then this is the sport for you.
