Appearance: Đông Tảo chickens are easily recognizable by their large, muscular bodies and thick, scaly legs. Their legs can be as thick as a human's wrist, which is one of their most unique features. They have a robust frame, red skin, and feathers that range in color from white to dark brown.

Size: They are considerably larger than most other chicken breeds. A mature Đông Tảo rooster can weigh between 4.5 to 5.5 kilograms (9.9 to 12.1 pounds), while hens are slightly smaller, weighing between 3.5 to 4 kilograms (7.7 to 8.8 pounds).

Temperament: These chickens are known for their calm and friendly nature. They are less aggressive compared to other breeds, making them suitable for small farms and backyard breeding.
