On October 27, 2022, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, and its flight path took it over Santa Monica. The Falcon 9 is a two-stage rocket, with the first stage being reusable. The rocket was carrying 53 Starlink internet satellites as part of SpaceX's ongoing efforts to provide global internet coverage. The Falcon 9 rocket stands 229 feet tall and has a diameter of 12 feet. The launch was part of SpaceX's effort to build a constellation of thousands of satellites in low Earth orbit to provide high-speed, low-latency internet service to users around the world.
