In this full-length instructional, I share how to build a quick(er) ratio steering rack for your EK!

Hey guys! It's been AGES since the last video, but this ones a good one. I've had this upgrade on my mind for years now- ever since my last EK. If you have one, or have driven one, you know that the steering response is not good (see: terrible). The reason behind that is the steering ratio; it might as well be a boat.

If you've seen my previous track videos, you'll see that my hands shuffle a decent amount to compensate. This installation will be the first step in rectifying that problem, by reducing the steering ratio.

If you don't know, the steering ratio is the correlation between how much rotation the steering wheel makes and how much the wheels turn based on that input. Expressed as a ratio, the OEM EK Power rack is about 17.7:1.

In this video you will find the easiest way to reduce the ratio on a budget. By using a 94-01 Integra pinion, we can reduce the ratio to 16.1:1 matching the Integra! This reduces over a half turn on lock to lock and increases steering response speed.

Fun fact, by doing this upgrade you will have a 1up on Integras: You'll have their ratio but retain your awesome turning radius and maximum steering angle! Best of both worlds, if you ask me.

In preparing to tackle this topic, I wanted to pack as much information as I could about this upgrade for you guys. To do so, I have provided as much info in the video as possible while attempting to keep it a respectable length.

However, there was still SO MUCH more I wanted to talk about, but it would have been borderline rambling.

Because of this, I have also decided to finally launch my personal blog, where I have created an entire long-form article that covers everything about this upgrade and more! Steering ratios, how and why, alternate options, factual data comparing EG, DC, and EK steering information, diagrams, some math, you name it.

Let me know what you think in the comments and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Lastly, HELLO to all of the new subscribers since the last video! Glad to have you and I'm looking forward to sharing more videos with you all.

Be sure to stay tuned on the site as well, I'll be posting up photo galleries and other articles in between videos to keep you guys up to date.
