Today I’m playing Hole 16 at Mickelson National, a short par 4 at around 335 yards. Many would call this the signature hole. This drivable par 4 is tempting for any golfer who steps to the tee. There is a creek that runs along the entire left side of the left sloping hole which really brings the water into danger when going for the green. Bailout right and you’ll likely end up in the well-placed bunker which is elevated from the two-tired green which slopes downward toward the water. A tee shot leaving you in the middle with a pitch or lob shot of 50-70 yards is ideal. Put the approach on the right tier and you’ll have a good shot at birdie.
