Beryl becomes a Category 5 storm in the Caribbean. This is now the earliest Cat 5 on record, beating Hurricane Emily in 2005 (July 16th). Wind shear will begin to gradually weaken the storm later this week as it approaches the western Caribbean and Mexico.

It looks like it’ll stay in the southwestern Gulf by this weekend. I'm still not concerned about it right now, but as I always say, we’ll watch it until it disappears.
