J. Michael Straczynski had pitched Babylon 5 to Paramount, giving them his show bible (the full history and backstory for the universe, character descriptions and bios, show premise, details on alien races, technology, etc, and details on the overall 5 year story arc). He also gave them story outlines and at least one script.

2 years later Paramount announced Deep Space Nine right after Warner Brothers bought Babylon 5, and there were several common setting, character, and plot points in common with B5. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!
