ED HOCHULI—Legendary NFL Official and Attorney. Ed Hochuli is an attorney and a former football official. Recently retired, Ed Hochuli was the most well-known referee in the NFL. Recognized by his athletic physique and distinctive call-style, Ed Hochuli has a genuine cult following. Ed Hochuli is also the founding partner of Jones, Skelton & Hochuli. As a dedicated trial attorney, Ed has tried more than 150 civil jury trials to verdict, focusing on cases involving dram shop and social host liability, retail defense, transportation defense, and general liability. Since 1990, Ed has worked as an official in the National Football League. For the past 26 seasons, Ed has served as Crew Chief (Referee), reporting calls weekly during the NFL’s regular season and post-season playoff games, including in two Super Bowls. Ed has played football since youth, including on his Tucson-area high school’s team and at UTEP where he earned his undergraduate degree. While at UTEP, Ed earned All-Western Athletic Conference academic honors. Ed announced his retirement from officiating in March 2018.
