Can Celtic compete in the Champions League? Celtic are gearing up for a revamped UEFA Champions League format. The traditional group stage has been replaced by a 36-team ‘League Phase’ – a large table offering more matches for each team than ever before.

For Celtic, this presents an opportunity to compete against a wider range of teams, including those from Pot 3 and Pot 4, potentially earning more points. The top 24 teams will advance to a knockout stage in 2025.

Brendan Rodgers is optimistic about Celtic's chances of advancing to the knockout stages for the first time since 2012. He knows what is needed to make that breakthrough.

Brendan Rodgers on Celtic’s Champions League Prospects:
In a recent media conference, Rodgers shared his thoughts on Celtic's potential in the Champions League. He said: “For me, I want us to be able to get into a play-off position. It’s a balance because you’re playing teams at a really high level, but now you’ve got 8 games.

“We need to be realistic as well. The club has won one game at home in many years. That shouldn’t stop us from pushing forward. With the right quality of players at this level, I believe we can achieve that. I’ve got every confidence in our ability.

“Last year, we were very close. Some might focus solely on the fact we didn’t qualify, but if you analyze the games closely, we won one and could have easily won two more. The away games were also competitive, and the Atletico Madrid game away was particularly challenging for us."
