Taipei(台北), the bustling capital city of Taiwan(台灣), offers a blend of modern urban life and rich historical culture. A visit to Taipei wouldn't be complete without exploring its famous old streets and unique attractions.

One of the must-visit spots is Jiufen Old Street(九份老街). This historic area is renowned for its narrow alleyways, traditional teahouses, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains and sea. The atmosphere here is reminiscent of Taiwan's gold mining past, and it's a great place to sample local delicacies like taro balls and herbal tea eggs.

Another interesting location is Houtong Cat Village(猴硐貓村). Once a thriving coal mining village, Houtong has reinvented itself as a haven for cat lovers. The village is home to hundreds of cats that roam freely, attracting visitors from all over the world. The well-preserved mining structures and scenic views add to the charm, making it a unique spot for both history buffs and animal enthusiasts.

It's a great place to try traditional snacks like iron eggs and A-gei (tofu stuffed with glass noodles). The street also offers picturesque views of the river and the sunset, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll.

Shihfen Old Street(十分老街) is famous for its sky lanterns and the nearby Shifen Waterfall. Visitors can write their wishes on a lantern and release it into the sky, a tradition believed to bring good fortune. The old street itself is lined with railway tracks, adding a nostalgic feel as trains occasionally pass through. The nearby waterfall, often referred to as Taiwan's Niagara Falls, is a breathtaking sight and a popular photo spot.

Lastly, Shenkeng Old Street(深坑老街) is known for its stinky tofu. This old street has retained its traditional architecture and offers a variety of local foods, with stinky tofu being the most famous. The unique smell and taste of this dish draw both curious tourists and dedicated foodies. Besides food, the street features shops selling traditional crafts and souvenirs, making it a delightful place to explore.
