Developed by Bioware 1998 Baldur's Gate was a breakaway success and would be the first in a long list of legendary RPG releases from the developers.

Making use of the 2nd Edition DND ruleset, the game introduced a generation of gamers to the dungeons and dragons franchise, and continues to have lasting effects on the RPG gaming market to this day.
