Alphen is one of the most enticing video game protagonists that I've seen in recent years. Tales of Arise shows how good pacing and characterization are crucial for writing your main character. If you need tips on how to write a good protagonist, this game is a solid spot to look towards. Even if one just got into playing Tales of Arise, it's not too difficult to see why Alphen is an enticing protagonist.

In Tales of Arise Alphen goes on a journey to liberate the Dahnans from slavery. The player spends the first portion of the game getting to know the character, the story, and the goals. Drawing in the player would require an enticing video game protagonist who is not only competent in combat but is written in a way that entices the player into witnessing his journey. Of course, because there are many characters in Tales of Arise Alphen is not the only character that the player meets.

Later in Tales of Arise Shionne is introduced, as well. Even though Alphen is the main protagonist of Tales of Arise, the duality between Alphen and Shionne is what continues to make Alphen a good protagonist because of their duality. Despite Alphen's goals, he's willing to help Shionne escape from the enemy, which helps people get a feel for Alphen's personality.

This also establishes the main conflict that this part sets up. throughout Tales of Arise Alphen and Shionne are established as polar opposites in terms of culture and personality. This helps to entice players into seeing how far the duality of Alphen and Shionne goes as the story progresses. Thankfully, the player would ideally be delighted to see that for the remainder of Tales of Arise Alphen and Shionne continue to grow with each other even as they meet new allies and enemies, but in order to reach this point in Tales of Arise Alphen himself needs to be an enticing video game protagonist.
