Back in 2005 I traveled to Austin Texas, for the SXSW festival.
As I was managing punk band Metal Urbain, I was given an artist's pass, and allowed to roam inside lots of venues with my gear, which included a then high tech DV camera. Though at the time, filming artists at gigs required an autorisation, I managed to grab a few clips of this gig right from the get go when I entered the venue, because I knew, when I got there, that the moment was magic.
Billy Idol played mostly to a very young crowd who had no idea who he was, but still recognised a few of the hit songs. Being nearly 20 years old, this footage capture him, and Steve Stevens, as if time since the 80's had not passed (watch Stevens doing his iconic arm move near the start of the video). This was like being transported in a time capsule. Just effin' insane.
Songs captured includes White Wedding, Scream, Rebel Yell, Eyes Without a Face.
Sorry for the camera shakes, those old DV cams became very sensitive when you zoomed in for a closer look.
