For my August creative design team project for ‪@TracieFoxCreative‬ I was inspired to make a tag booklet inspired by the idea of John Barleycorn using Tracie's Keep creeping portrait kit. In todays video I make some dried flower tags to add to the booklet, add the fabric hinges and do some sewing. If you don't know who John Barleycorn is, he is part of British folklore and the personification of Wheat/barley and linked to the first harvest of the year that usually takes place around the start of August. Because of this he is now also linked to the festival of Lammas. I have linked both the poem and a version of the folk song below. However poor John Barleycorn has a horrible time in the poem/song so I wanted to focus my project on the idea of him marrying rather than his demise. I hope you enjoy my take on creating something Autumnal with a bit of creepy thrown in.
