Beau is Afraid is Ari Aster's latest film, after both Hereditary and Midsommar fundamentally changed the landscape of horror movies. But, does this Joaquin Phoenix led film live up to the legacy of his first two feature films? Is Beau is Afraid even a horror movie in the first place? What the heck IS this movie, and should you watch Beau is Afraid in theaters?

I'll be honest, I was NOT prepared for this new movie from Ari Aster. And when I first left the theater, I actually was pretty harsh on it. And the people in the theater with me on opening night...well, let's just say that some of them wished they had their money back. BUT, after thinking on Beau is Afraid some more, my review of the movie has totally changed. So let's review and talk through (with no spoilers) the most insane movie I've ever seen, straight from the delightfully macabre mind of Ari Aster!
