single phase meter has 4four terminals and it's load capacity is 10 to 60 amps. therefore this meter is used to light and fans and home appliances only. and maximum 4Kw loads only
whenever 3phase meter hase 8 terminals , and it used to the load capacity starting from minimum 5KW and many more , its current capacity starting from 3x60 amps or 60 amps/ phase. there different types of 3 phase meter available according to it required load capacity used CTs, called trivector meters.
