John Wayne: 60 Second Bio

John Wayne, born Marion Robert Morrison on 26th May 1907 in Iowa, was an iconic American actor whose career spanned over five decades. He became one of Hollywood's most enduring and beloved stars, known for his roles in numerous Western films. Wayne's rugged, stoic persona and distinctive voice made him a symbol of American masculinity.
He gained prominence in the 1939 film "Stagecoach," directed by John Ford, which marked the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between the two. Throughout the 1940s and 50s, Wayne starred in a string of successful Westerns, including "Red River", "The Searchers", and "Rio Bravo", solidifying his status as a Hollywood legend.
He was known for his patriotism and conservative political views. He actively supported the U.S. military and often portrayed patriotic characters in his films.
Wayne won his first and only Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in "True Grit". He continued acting until his death in 1979, leaving behind a legacy as one of cinema's most enduring and influential figures.
