As a fervent Silent Hill fan, Akira Yamaoka's iconic work inspired me to get into composing music and I've been itching to create something that I could consider a loving homage to the works that have had such a large influence on my life. I'm hoping this is the first of many dark ambient mixes I'm able to produce and I'm really just getting my feet wet with this one. I wanted it to be much longer but I'm already far past my originally intended Halloween deadline and am creatively dried up on adding to this, so I hope you enjoy it despite the short length!

All of this is music I composed myself using many of the same instrument samples Yamaoka did in creating some of his most iconic pieces, remixed and extended slightly with some other original works that evoke a Silent Hill feel, finally complemented by some audio cues and sound effects pulled directly from the sound files of various Silent Hill games to provide a more complete, nostalgic soundscape.

This mix is split up into 5 parts which is more gimmick than anything as it was just a logical way to break up and sequence the music I was going for. It is meant to reflect various phases of descent into the depths of Silent Hill with the viewer descending deeper into darkness with each minute of the mix that passes.

Part 1 - Arrival - 00:00 - 06:57
Part 2 - Purgatory - 06:57 - 17:20
Part 3 - Otherworld - 17:20 - 25:04
Part 4 - Hell - 25:04 - 29:03
Part 5 - Returning Home - 29:03 - end

Please note that the second to last piece featured at 27:13 is meant to be a "final boss encounter" track that is more intense than ambient and may disrupt the flow of your listening journey so if you aren't interested in hearing that, feel free to stop watching at 27:13 or you can skip to the final "returning home" track after this at 29:04 if interested!. To me it felt like an organic addition with the journey leading up to a boss finale much like every Silent Hill game with the intent of completely overwhelming you, so your mileage may vary as to whether you want to listen to it.

I can't say as to how much the Youtube compression methods have ruined the audio quality so consider checking out the full album on my Bandcamp where you can stream and download every song in this mix for FREE!
