And finally, some fun facts. My favorite team is the Boston Red Sox, as I hail from New England. I now live in Northern Arizona, which feels far away, but in some corner of my mind, I’m always at Fenway.

Sometimes I’m asked, “Why is Pete Alonso your favorite player?” Well, there are several reasons. 1) I’m partial to power hitting first basemen (especially righties), having played first base as a righty and led the league in HR twice in high school. 2) I met Pete when he was a nobody in the Arizona Fall League. He signed a ball and was super nice. 3) I drafted him with the LAST PICK in my 2019 fantasy baseball draft, and he more or less won the league for me (hitting 53 jacks out of the last spot off the board tends to help!). 4) He has a dad bod yet is a superstar. 5) I rarely place bets, but when watching the HR derby several years back with friends we all placed a small amount on one player. Mine was Pete and—he won the Derby. 6) He is, by all accounts, a great guy who does a lot for his community. 7) I met him again when he was a superstar and he was, again, super nice. 8) He has the coolest nickname ever. No, not “Big Meat Pete.” I’m talking about “POLAR BEAR!!!!”
