My husband and I renovated a 1900s house from scratch!

After nearly a year of house hunting in London, in Sept 2019, my then boyfriend, now husband and I bought a very old Victorian terraced house in South West London. This house was built around 1900, hasn’t been modernised at all at the time of purchase

There was no extension, no loft conversion, and interior decoration was extremely dated

This was the first time for either me or my husband to go through a renovation. Before this, I had no idea about what is plasterboard, plaster, grouting, hinges, MDF, laminate and all... If I look back now, I honestly do not know where did we get the courage to take on a project like this. However, after all the hard work, I am so proud and glad to say that it is all worth every penny of it.

This is an overall renovation video and I talked about the renovation from the following aspects:
1) How a 1900s house looked like originally
- Original house structure
- Before pictures of the exterior and interior of the house
2) Preparation of the renovation
- Draft a scope of work document
- Progress pictures
3) G/F extension
- How long of the extension did we get
- Roof structure
- Importance of natural lights
4) Cementing the G/F
- Original material of the structure
- Why changing the floor structure
- Benefit
5) Loft conversion
- Original loft structure
- Design of the loft
6) Lighting and electricity
- Electricity map
- After effect of lighting
7) Kitchen remodelling
- Kitchen materials and specs
- Design details (drawers, pull-out basket, magic corner, and appliances)
8) Project management
- Tiling plans
9) Built-in storage
- What built-in storage did we install
- How the built-in looks like in our house
10) Moving in
- When did we move in
- Overall feeling after getting the work done & moving in
