Hey Quite The Chap here for GolfersRX. Do you have a problem figuring out which club to hit when you’re around the green…in today’s video.
Okay, so we’re trying to break 90, so why are we thinking we need 15 different shots in our arsenal when we get close to the green. What if we had one shot that we could always (60% of the time it works 100% of the time) rely on? Wouldn’t that take the stress away from having to choose what to do when you get up around the green?
Here’s what we do to practice with this one club
1 - pick one of your wedges (50, 54, 56), not your lob wedge
2 - take three balls or so and hit them to a pin
3 - take notice of where they land and how far they roll out
4 - hit a variety of distances
Using the one club method is going to take a lot of second-guessing out of your shortgame. You know how the ball reacts when it hits the green at different distances so now you can commit on a completely new level that you didn’t before. We’re not trying to hit a Phil Mickelson over the head backwards to 3 inches shot, we’re trying to break 90.
Until next time, keep it simple.
