World Diabetes Day is observed every year on birthday of Sir Frederick Banting who co-discovered insulin in 1922.
W.H.O. estimates that 6% of the world's population has diabetes and sadly India is also called Diabetes Capital of the world as more than 77 million people in India have Diabetes and large percentage of people don't even know that they have Diabetes.

During this pandemic of COVID19, people with Diabetes are paying a particularly high price as the risk of severe Covid19 disease and death are higher in diabetics and at the same time many patients are having difficulty in accessing the treatment due to lockdown and restrictions in movement.
