Fast rising incidence of dengue fever has forced the medical scientists and doctors across the world to come out with some effective remedies against this viral disease. One of the medicinal herb found highly effective in this regard is the leaves of Erand-karkati (Carica papaya).

Here we discuss various actions and uses of Erand-karkati (Carica papaya) available as CARIPA Tablet -

Ingredient:
Caripa Tablet contains - Erand-karkati (Carica papaya) Leaf ext. 550 mg (Equivalent to 5.5 gms dried papaya leaf powder)

Actions:
Studies reveal that Erand-karkati (Carica papaya) Leaf extract has following actions -
• Anti-dengue virus (vishanu-hara / vishama-jvara-hara) - blocks viral assembly mechanism of DENV2 virus
• Promotes the production of platelets in patients with low platelet counts (thrombo-cytopenia) due to dengue fever or other causes (rakta-pitta-hara)
• Promotes the production of RBCs (raktdhatu-vardhak)
• Promotes the production of WBCs (ojasya)

Indications:
Caripa Tablet is used as adjuvant in the management of following diseases -
• Dengue fever (vishama-jvara / vishanu-janya-jvara)
• Low plate count (thrombo-cytopenia) due to dengue fever (DF), dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), or other curable causes (rakta-pitta, rakta-dushti)
• Bleeding disorders (rakta-pitta)
• Low WBC count (leucopenia) due to viral infections, or other curable causes (ojasya)
• Low RBC count / anemia (pandu-roga)
• Liver disorders (yakrid-rogas)
• Splenic disorders (pliha-rogas)

Dosage:
• Dengue fever: Adults: Caripa Tablet - 2 tabs bd/tid for 5-10 days. Children (6-9 yrs): ¼- ½ of adult dose, in crushed form with honey, juice, milk.
• Other diseases: Adults: Caripa Tablet - 2 tabs bd/tid. Taper off on improvement. Children (6-9 yrs): ¼- ½ of adult dose, in crushed form with honey, juice, milk.
To be taken just after meals.

Precautions:
Avoid in pregnancy.
