"From morning fog to sunny skies..." sounds like a description from everyone I'd ever met that worked or drove races at Laguna. In this era, there was a lot of 'cross-pollination' between SCCA Trans Am and IMSA GT classes. IIRC, rules about downforce & tires were the main difference.

As far as this particular race goes, anyone who cares about either series should be pretty stoked. Ford in a points battle with Oldsmobile?!? I guess Gentilozzi's Rocketsports team was responsible for that..dang shame they overextended themselves this weekend. Pruitt seemed like he was pretty quick before the thing started falling apart. Johnny O is quick in the Nissan (got the ride after Millen got hurt), but after watching it again, I think Tommy K's tires went off, instead of the legs he'd had repaired after his GTP wreck.

Also, Bill Auberlin in a 2nd hand U car, and Bob's son Butch doing the job in a Nissan without a turbo. Les Lindley still hanging around, and did the starting grid graphics really mention Milt Mintner?!?
