Vintage Collins Boys Axe. The handle has the original sticker on it, although a bit tatty as is the handle as a whole. There are obvious signs of age such as subtle cracking and discoloration, but the handle seems very sturdy and durable in normal use. In the above linked video I tested it in some heavier chopping tasks for some storm damaged tree cleanup and it handled it all surprisingly well! In this video I tested the axes ability to handle small splitting tasks such as would be common in a camping setting or for kindling splitting tasks.
The axe head is marked with an "M" and "2 1/4". I cleaned the head, leaving the original surface intact other than creating fresh bevels and cleaning up the pole, as that is the look I prefer. Not an overly polished turd, but an awesome looking, useable vintage axe that will make an excellent camp axe, house axe, or backpacking axe.
Overall length is approximately 27". The head is fitted nicely on the handle with no play at all. Original aluminum wedge.
