For the first time in several years, the Victorian Railways C Class locomotives (Owned by SSR) tackled the Adelaide Hills with Southern Shorthaul Railroads Grain Trains 5502s & 2503s on Tuesday the 30th of October 2018. Details below
Early on Tuesday morning, 5502s led by C507/C504/C510/C506 is seen at Balhannah and within the Petwood & Nairne section in low light before sunrise. Later after crossing 2MP5 at Monarto South, they cross the Murray River at Murray Bridge (02:10).
After loading and rest the train is ready to return to Crystal Brook as 2503s with C505/C510/C504/C507 leading. The loaded movement is seen at Monteith (04:00), Monarto South (05:30), Nairne (06:20), Mount Lofty (07:20), Belair (08:30) & Mitcham (09:20).
