Beautiful Button Placket Double Layer Umbrella Cut Baby Frock Cutting and Stitching | DIY Baby Frock

Welcome back to my channel! Today, I’m super excited to show you how to create a beautiful Button Placket Double Layer Umbrella Cut Baby Frock. This frock is perfect for your little one, and with my step-by-step guide, you’ll be able to stitch it up in no time! So, let’s get started!

[Step 1: Materials Needed]

• Fabric (2 different colors or patterns)
• Buttons (matching or contrasting)
• Measuring tape
• Scissors
• Sewing machine
• Thread (matching)
• Pins
• Ruler
• Chalk or fabric marker

[Step 2: Taking Measurements]
First, measure your baby’s chest, waist, and desired length of the frock. We’ll use these measurements to draft the pattern.

[Step 3: Drafting the Pattern]
Start by drawing the basic bodice pattern on paper. This includes the neckline, armholes, and waistline. Don’t forget to add seam allowances. For the umbrella cut, you’ll need to cut two circles—one for each layer—using the waist measurement as the diameter for the inner circle and the desired length for the outer.

[Step 4: Cutting the Fabric]
Place your pattern on the fabric and cut the bodice pieces. Then, cut out two circles for the umbrella skirt. The larger circle will be the outer layer, and the smaller one will be the inner layer.

[Step 5: Sewing the Bodice]
Start by sewing the shoulder seams of the bodice. Attach the sleeves if you’re adding any, or simply hem the armholes. Next, sew the side seams. For the button placket, fold the front edges, press them down, and stitch along the edge to create a neat placket. Attach buttons and create buttonholes.

[Step 6: Assembling the Skirt]
Layer the two skirt pieces with the right sides facing up, aligning the inner circles. Pin them together and sew around the inner circle to join the two layers. Then, attach the skirt to the bodice, making sure the seams align.

[Step 7: Finishing Touches]
Hem the edges of the outer and inner skirt layers for a clean finish. Add any decorative elements like bows or lace if desired.

And there you have it—a gorgeous Button Placket Double Layer Umbrella Cut Baby Frock! If you enjoyed this tutorial, please give it a thumbs up, share it with your friends, and don’t forget to subscribe for more DIY fashion projects. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing!
