In this video, I perform a 10 Minute HIIT Timer Drum Workout. So, basically, over the summer I hardly played the drums and now I need to get back into it. Using a HIIT timer is a really great way of doing this because it gives you a really clear target. I use the free timer at https://www.simplehiittimer.com/ but there are others available. I set the timer to 8 intervals of 1 minute, each one separated by 20 seconds rest.

The rudiments I play are single stroke roll, double stroke roll, paradiddle, flam accent and an interpolated pattern between the toms and bass drum.

In posting this video, I hope to reveal that practise isn't pretty! And if you haven't practised for several weeks (most of the summer if I'm being honest) then you can't expect to sound very good when you start up again.

The good news is that through regular practise with a HIIT timer, real progress can be achieved. My intension is to film myself practising with the HIIT timer daily for the next 30 days. Hopefully by the end of it you'll see some improvement.
