The song “Jaya Nityananda” is a Bengali Baul song which exalts Nityananda and Gaurachandra, calling for victory and seeking their divine blessings. The lyrics begin with an invocation to Nityananda and Gaurachandra, expressing the ultimate desire for the dust of their feet, which symbolises humility and devotion. The singer acknowledges the supreme virtues of the Lord, describing Him as the saviour of the fallen, with no other protector in the world. Nityananda’s heroic life is highlighted, being born in Birchandrapur to Hadai Pandit, and how even the site of his birth near the Yamuna remains sacred. His divine roles across different yugas are mentioned: as a sacrificer in Satya Yuga, as Lord Rama in Treta Yuga dwelling in the forest, and as Krishna in Dwapara Yuga, enchanting the Gopis with his flute’s melody. The singer repeatedly asks for the dust of the Lord’s feet, a symbol of seeking divine grace and enlightenment. The song also speaks about the incarnation of the Lord as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in Nabadwip, highlighting his role in spreading divine bliss along with his devotees, including Sri Advaita Chandra. Together, they spread joy like a flowing ocean, encompassing everyone in its path. There’s also a reference to Kaliya, an aspect of Krishna, where the Lord’s dark complexion is remembered, symbolising his eternal presence. The singer even prays for the Lord to grant fearlessness to those considered mad or lost, showcasing the boundless nature of divine compassion. The song reflects a profound sense of spirituality, love, and devotion to Nityananda and Gaurachandra, praising them for their past divine acts and their ever-present grace.

Bauls are a group of wandering mystical minstrels of Bengal. This community started with the largest Cultural Revolution in the history of human civilization, the Bhakti Movement led by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Their syncretic traditions are the outcome of a culmination of Hinduism, Islam and Buddhism. Baul Music and Philosophy are deeply intertwined, with the Music serving as a medium for expressing and exploring our inner-self and the world around us, in search of the Divine. They also emphasise the importance of love, compassion, and tolerance, and reject distinctions based on caste, religion, or social status. Duality is a common theme in Baul song lyrics, with allegorical narratives using metaphors. ‘Deho-tatva’ – a recurring premise in Baul lyrics – is a concept of portraying nature and the universe through our bodies, which reflects the immortality of the cycle of life and death. It connects sex and spirituality – spiritual union of the individual with the Divine - to attain Moksha.
