On this occasion, we will take a trip up the slope and around the "death" route on the Kampak to Munjungan route.
Munjungan, is one of the sub-districts in Trenggalek Regency, East Java, remote and tucked behind the mountains in the south of Trenggalek. This sub-district, to the north borders the Kampak sub-district, to the west borders the Panggul sub-district, to the east borders the Watulimo sub-district, and to the south borders directly with the Indian Ocean.

Because it is located behind the mountains, Munjungan is famous for its very high, winding, and dangerous routes. So the Kampak-Munjungan route for the size of a district road, is the most difficult and extreme route in Southeast Asia.

Novice drivers, it is better not to use this route to try and test your courage. Life is a high stake. Who knows how many lives have been lost and disappeared on this 27 km long route. And for drivers of 4 wheels or more from outside Trenggalek who are not familiar with this terrain, it is highly recommended to change drivers with local people.

However, behind all that, the view offered is very beautiful. Not to mention, when you arrive in Munjungan, the conditions are like turning 180 degrees. There is no longer the impression of being high, steep and scary. Because when you arrive in the sub-district town of Munjungan, everything feels flat, fun, peaceful and enjoyable.
