With the cyclone approaching Salalah (with high winds and 300 to 500mm of rain predicted) we knew that we had to adjust our plan and move away from the coastal area. We wanted to move to the Thumrait area, but then decided to go even further North into the Rub al Khali. Our first spot was wonderful, until the winds really picked up. We moved to the sulphuric Water Spring deeper in. There we found shelter from the wind and drifting sands. It rained a little and some truck drivers mentioned that we need to watch out for the wadi crossings near Ubar on our way out. We really enjoyed the desert. On the way out the road was blocked indeed. We detoured to Meetin and drove back to the blacktop over the 80km long most horrible washboard road. The blacktop was all ok. We camped next to the wadi that blocked us near Ubar.
