Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT) (Government Engineering College), Kottayam, India is a state government-owned engineering college in the southern Indian state of kerala Located 14 km away from Kottayam, Kerala, India, near Pampady, the institute was founded in 1991 by the Government of Kerala. The college is affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University since its inception in 2015.

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT) is one of the nine engineering colleges fully owned and run by the Government of Kerala. It offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in six disciplines, Master of Technology (M. Tech) in nine specializations,Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch), Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and Research centre for various PhD Programmes. The college is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and recognized by AICTE. Over its 30 years of existence, RIT has built a strong reputation as one of Kerala's leading technical institutes.
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT), Kottayam is one of the nine

The college started functioning in 1991, and is named after late Prime Minister Sri.
Rajiv Gandhi. The Government has started this institution with the view of making it a
centre of excellence for under-graduate, post-graduate and research studies.
The college at its days of infancy was functioning at Technical High School, Velloor
and PTM High School, Velloor. Within few years, the college was shifted to the present
sprawling campus. Over the years, it has developed a vast infrastructure, and has shown
a steady growth. The B.Tech programmes have been accredited by National Board of
Accreditation (NBA) in 2007, 2016 and 2019. Since 2012, the Institute is being funded
under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP), implemented as
a World Bank assisted project to improve the quality of technical eduaction system in
the country
